With the prospect of receiving up to 33 million tourists this year, Portugal has successfully closed the 35th edition of its tourism fair. The BTL-Better Tourism Lisbon Travel Market was attended by 1,500 exhibitors and the FIL-Parque das Nações exhibition centre hosted representatives from more than 100 international destinations and 600 events.

Portugal believes that its tourism growth depends on aspects such as service improvements and sustainability, and has analysed the trends that have the greatest impact on tourist behaviour and visitor numbers. In this sense, 63% of tourists highlight personalised and tailor-made trips and 60% the search for authentic cultural experiences in cities. However, Portuguese tourism experts recognise the obstacle posed by “the lack of qualified human resources”, the need for segmented promotion or the re-qualification and diversification of the offer. They also consider the country’s political stability to be essential, given that it was announced during the BTL event that elections will be held at the beginning of May, 14 months after the last ones…Institutional instability has therefore also become the protagonist of a fair where destinations, suppliers and hoteliers have shown their confidence that the government’s problems will not affect the next tourist season.

Promotion of Dingus in Lisbon

In order to present the technological proposal of Dingus, Rodrigo Hernáez and Narek Davtyan actively participated in an event that is the main showcase not only for tourism in Portugal, but also for other destinations that have deployed their promotion there. In this way, we had the opportunity to present our leading business platform in hotel distribution to Portuguese hotels, as well as to meet with some of our prominent clients from different markets.

Now that the Lisbon event is over, Dingus’ next meeting with the industry will take place in Nayarit, Mexico, on 20 and 21 March.
