- The list, which was announced at the recent Tourism Innovation Summit in Seville, aims to recognise companies that have made a significant qualitative contribution to the tourism sector, and once again stands out for its focus on “companies that drive technological development in tourism”.
Of all the companies selected by Sergestur, 10 are from the Balearic Islands, 9 from Catalonia, 5 from the Valencian Community, another 5 from the Canary Islands and 4 from Madrid, among other autonomous communities, which “highlights the technological potential that exists, especially in the first two regions: the Balearic Islands and Catalonia”.
Dingus, based in Mallorca, has been recognised by the Canary Islands consultancy firm, along with 39 other companies, in a list that has been drawn up “taking into account the relative weight of each autonomous community in the national tourism panorama, as well as the performance of the companies in recent years, including their ability to innovate during the period of crisis caused by the pandemic”. With forecasts of more than 90 million international tourists in 2024, the study aims to “highlight those companies that are leading the way towards a more technological and sustainable tourism in Spain“.
With Fernando Garasa at the helm, Sergestur defends the need for “the tourism sector to invest in innovation, digitalisation and specialised training in order to remain competitive in the demanding international market“. But this year, in addition to the capacity to innovate, the productive activity, professional awareness and communication strategies of the companies were also valued, as well as their impact on the growth of technological knowledge within the sector.
