If there was an important year to support the Tianguis Tourism Fair as a company participating in the revitalisation of Acapulco’s tourism activity, it was undoubtedly this year. Dingus® has not missed this event, supporting the generation of business for the recovery of the destination and the economic activity of the area.

In October 2023, Category 5 Hurricane Otis destroyed much of the infrastructure of one of Mexico’s top tourist destinations, leaving severe damage to the area and its main economic epicentre: Acapulco.

Five months later, the race against time to recover the coastal city (home to almost a million people and visited by thousands of tourists every year) sent a message to the travel and accommodation sector about the public-private partnership that is working on it at the 48th edition of the Tianguis Turístico MX. The organisers wanted to show, quite simply, that “Acapulco is back on its feet and reborn”, proposing a fair with fewer visitors but more objectives to reposition the destination at the top of international preferences. In the end, more than 35,000 business appointments were made (compared to 88,000 last year), with the participation of more than a thousand buyers and 833 companies.

Tianguis Turístico was attended by 43 countries, with Mexico accounting for 63%, the United States with 10.8%, Colombia with almost 8% and Spain with just over 4%.

Featured Dingus® Appointment

The Mexican trade fair is a benchmark for Dingus®, which continues to focus on Mexico as an international tourist destination. The sales team that travelled to the Tianguis met with the leading hoteliers in the sector and confirmed the “great interest in the integrations we offer, especially from the USA, Canada and the local Mexican market”. The meetings confirmed the “particularly positive assessment of Dingus®+T and Dingus®DataHotel for decision making based on market analytics, as well as the certainty of growth in customers in Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta in the Pacific zone and in the Caribbean, with Cancun and Riviera Maya leading our presence in the destination”.

Having established the business opportunities in the region, Dingus® is now preparing for its next trade mission at DATE in the Dominican Republic on 24, 25 and 26 April.
