This month we are participating in the latest Hosteltur special. Our business development manager explains how between May and October the main distribution channels had an average of 69% cancellations: “Tour operators 81%, online agencies 67% and direct sales 53%”. For the period from May 1st to October 31st, our DataHotel DINGUS® registered a 78.10% decrease in bookings in hotels in Spain and an 82% decrease in room nights, compared to 2019. Paula Servera points out how “at the end of July the outlook was good and booked in the short term, but by September what has happened is that there has been a total halt in bookings when the German market closed”. Due to its dependence on these markets, the Balearic Islands were the most affected, with 80% of cancellations of reservations “and this is because tour operators were over 90% of the cancellations”.
