• By August, seven million visitors had arrived, 25% more than in the first eight months of 2022, and the forecast is for ten million tourists by 2023. The island nation is positioned as the second largest recipient of tourists in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the United States, Canada and Spain as the main emitters.

La Romana, Punta Cana, Cap Cana, Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo are the main destinations in the Dominican Republic where many of the more than 80 hotels connected to Dingus® operate in the country. In line with the Dingus® policy of being close to our customers, we have just had the opportunity to meet with the teams of Viva Wyndham, Hodelpa Hotels & Resorts, Coral Costa Caribe, Senator, VH Hoteles, Playa Resorts, ATG and Princess Hotels, in a joint action of our sales and marketing, support and customer service departments.

The Dingus® delegation, made up of Agustina Salord, David Delgado, Javier León and José Luis Tovilla, was able to confirm that we are consolidating our position as “the most relevant technological partner for the tourism industry” in the region, after meetings focused on our technology and knowledge in distribution. The main objective is to “maintain the contribution of value to international hotel distribution through connectivity and the exponential increase of integrations with local tour operators in 2023”.

The recent visit to the Dominican Republic allowed us to get to know the needs of our clients first hand, giving us “the necessary feedback to continue the sustainable growth of Dingus® in the destination”. We were also able to present the reinforcement of the Customer Service Department for the area, which brings a plus of proximity to the hotels, since, as Agustina Salord explains, “this department is the one in charge of providing a more proactive and personalised support to the clients. We have had the opportunity to highlight the services we offer, both in terms of allowing them to concentrate on their day-to-day work, leaving the tasks to be carried out by the Channel Manager in the hands of Dingus®, and in terms of user certification, so that they are autonomous in the use of our tool and can optimise their marketing to the maximum. In both cases, the objective is clear: to help them sell more and better”.

One of the great advantages is undoubtedly the integration of Dingus® with the main American and Canadian operators, the main reference markets for Dominican tourism.

How does tourism affect the country’s economy?

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), by the end of 2023, tourism will contribute 15.3% of the economy and generate 17.5% of jobs. It also benefits local small businesses, as 90 out of 100 businesses in the supply chain are micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

Recently, the Dominican Republic’s Minister of Tourism affirmed that the dynamism and growth of the tourism industry makes it “a key driver of the country’s economy, generating wealth”, mainly through the generation of foreign currency and employment. David Collado attributed part of the success of the Dominican destination to its warmth, hospitality and safety.

From Dingus® we want to add the extraordinary hotel offer and its capacity to manage the best attention to the tourist with environmental and socio-cultural respect. We are very pleased to be the technological partner for the distribution in Dominican hotels that trust in Dingus®.
