47,000 business appointments with the presence of companies from 40 countries: 60% from Mexico. These are some of the figures from the latest edition of the Tianguis Turístico México, the 46th, which this year was held in Acapulco, specifically in Guerrero. The event, in which the main suppliers of the tourism industry interact with the hotels and channels that operate in the area, is consolidated as the most relevant in the sector.

Tianguis is a business forum based on pre-established meetings, which we have attended to present the improvements and novelties of our technological proposals and all the possibilities and advantages of connecting with Dingus®.

Commercial actions in a market with good prospects

The sales delegation that travelled to Guerrero (Acapulco) with Rodrigo Hernáez and José Luis Tovilla, from the Dingus® headquarters in Spain and Mexico, respectively, stresses that “in the more than 30 meetings held with customers and business opportunities, we have felt particularly comfortable presenting the company’s value proposition focused on connectivity, scalability and efficiency. We have been able to convey a strategy that focuses on customer success, innovation and a global vision of the business, and we have seen that the strong growth of our American, Canadian and Mexican channels has consolidated us as one of the leading providers of technology for hotel distribution and sales in the market”.

The Mexican tourism authorities forecast that this year the activity will generate 8.3% of GDP, only four tenths of a percentage point below the pre-pandemic index, so that, in the words of tourism secretary Miguel Torruco, “2022 looks promising for tourism activity in our country”. The Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, for his part, indicated that the evolution of tourism activity responds to a recovery of the national economy, and pointed out that “after the long night of Covid, tourism is on its feetand, thus, “Mexico is going to move forward”.

Consolidated and growing Caribbean connectivity portfolio

In this environment of tourism recovery, David Delgado (Dingus® Connectivity Specialist) valued the presence at the fair as “it has shown us the upward positioning of the brand, as well as a growing demand from new channels that require connectivity and integration in our platform. The objective of the operators is that the increase in hotel product and the consequent increase in sales will have an impact on the recovery of production and revenue levels prior to the crisis caused by the Covid crisis”.

Caribbean forecasts analysed by Dingus®DataHotel

In meetings with more than twenty sales channels, the connectivity department presented the Dingus®DataHotel tool, the distribution map and market metrics and analytics. At the moment, the indicators show that the level of bookings in the Caribbean destination has increased considerably and is 23% higher than those confirmed last year.

More than 700,000 bookings at Dingus®-connected hotels in the region translate into more than four million room nights. Hotel room nights have grown by more than 50%, which explains why tourists are extending their stays, while weekend getaways are on the decline.Regarding cancellations, this year they are at even lower levels (down 2%) than in the pre-pandemic year, 2019, and a far cry from the high cancellation rates seen at this time last year.

We will shortly share a detailed publication on Caribbean sales for the next quarter.
